Spike:  You know, I don’t have to go back to America.When my dad calls I can tell him to go without me. He knows that I might dothat. Lynda…?

Lynda:  What are you expecting me to say?

Spike:  Do you love me, Lynda? And that was aquestion. 


 
She doesn’t answer.


 
Spike:  Yeah… I sense the music is over.

Lynda:  Of course I do!

Spike:  What?

Lynda:  Of course I love you! But what good does thatdo either of us?

Spike:  What do you mean what good does it do us?

Lynda:  I don't want this! I'm not ready for it. Ijust want to run a newspaper! At least I think I do. It scares me half todeath!

Spike:  Lynda, I don't understand. Doyou want me to stay?

Lynda:  I don't know! Do you want to stay?

Spike:  I don't know!

Lynda:  Today is the first day of the rest of mylife, and I'm hopelessly confused already.

Spike:  What do we do?


 
The phone rings. 


 
Lynda:  I love you. 

Spike:  I love you.

Lynda:  Your dad?

Spike:  Your newspaper?

Lynda:  Either way, I think someone's expecting us togrow up.
