Lynda: So you're certain the food you were supplied with was past it's sell-bydate?  

Mrs Davenport: Yes, well you see I happened to notice something. Every time the foodwas past it's sell-by date, there was the same signature on the blue form -N.V. Gillespie. 

Spike: So you think that this Gillespie guy has got something to do with itall?

Lynda: Have you met Gillespie, Mrs Davenport?
Mrs Davenport: I haven't, no. And this is the strange thing. I phoned the office tospeak with him once about all of this, and none of them had met him either.

Spike: Yeah, but surely he works there?

Mrs Davenport: No, apparently he works for one of the food suppliers. And they don'teven know if it’s a he - it could a man or a woman.

Spike: So he or she is just a signature on a form?

Lynda: And it's always his or her signature when the food is past its sell-bydate?

Mrs Davenport: That's it exactly.

Lynda: Mrs Davenport, one last question. Do you feel you were sacked because ofthis discovery you made?

Mrs Davenport: No, dear. It was because I kept mixing custard in with the potatoes.
