Spike:  (into thephone) Look, what I guess I've really been trying to say from the start is…thatI really am sorry. I'm sorry for all that stuff that I said. Because I don'tget a chance to take it back now. 

 

Lynda looks down and sees the envelope lying on her desk.She picks it up. 

 

Spike:  And I'm sorrythat we've been fighting solidly ever since I can remember. It just got toolate to make it up. 

 

Lynda opens the envelope and unfolds the note. "Lynda,my father died today. Got to go home, back soon. Spike". She looks up,stunned. 

 

Spike:  And I'm sorrythat the best way I can find speaking to you now is by leaving a bunch of dumbmessages on an answer phone that you're never gonna hear. But I guess we alwaysdid have communication difficulties. I kind of feel like you didn't let mefinish. You were a dirty trick, Dad. One day we're yelling at each on the phoneand…the next you pull a fatal heart attack. 

 

Lynda gets up and slowly walks over to him.

 

Spike:  What a tactic.Well you see if I let you do that again. I'm running out of things to say here,Dad. Not as much as I always thought. I'm gonna miss you like hell, Dad. WellI've got no one to prove wrong anymore, have I? (looks at Lynda) Well, almostno one. I guess that's it…Good bye forever. And all of that.
