[pressgang] Nostalgia

[Maya Crabtree]

Well, it's obvious isn't it? A freak worm hole has opened up in the fabric
of the space-time continuum. This seemingly insignificant set of video
cassettes has been sucked back in time twenty years to the bedroom of the
infant Maya Crabtree. But what awesome celestial forces are behind this
strange phenomenon? And what is their evil purpose? We shall have to act
quickly to save the entire Universe!

Upon clearing out all my old things from my mom's house, I came upon my old
original PG video cassettes. There were a few weird/funny months (or more)
during which, had a fire burst out in our flat, I would have reached out to
those cassettes first thing, without hesitating, as my most prised
possession (assuing I wasn't thrown back on the floor while trying to fix a
spark emitting dangerous looking socket).
I was sure I'd hold on to those forever, but looking at it from the
perspective of a 40 year old person with a family struggling to find space
for things that we actually use, I think the time has come to say goodbye.
As the only people in the world who might appreciate this feeling (or at
least, not think I've lost my marbles), I just wanted to share this with
you guys before I dump these into the electronic waste bin.
