Same - some things came back to me as I watched, but there was a lot I
didn't remember too!

I was a wreck for most of high school – my teachers kept telling me I could
get top grades if I just studied a little harder. So I came home in tears
at least once a week, slept for most of the afternoons, did indeed get top
grades, and never found any use for them afterwards. One of my best friend
flunked most of her classes and didn't get a full graduation. Both of us
now work in schools; she's a home ec teacher and I'm a school librarian. If
there's one thing I wish I'd known, it's that it's not worth getting so
caught up in what others want for you that you forget to want anything for
yourself.

Honestly, my experience with media jobs is that this is exactly how you get
ahead, by making connections, throwing yourself in there, and having the
chutzpah not to take no for an answer. Nothing for socially shy people like
me, in other words. :-)
Then again, if Lynda had taken that job, she wouldn't be running the Junior
Gazette professionally a couple of years later!
